This is a chance to mingle and network with fellow PNGAA members. It has been some time since the Melbourne coterie have managed to get together.
Meet new members and renew acquaintances with old friends.

David Howell will present an overview about Rabaul in WW2, including Lark Force, as well as the Battle of Bita Paka which is entitled ‘Heroes Before Gallipol’ – Australia’s first action in the Great War.

Mr David Howell is a Melbourne based author, tour guide and historian. In particular David specialises in the Southwest Pacific Area of Operations during the Second World War.
David spent five-years as a volunteer guide with the Friends of Kokoda at the Kokoda Track Memorial Walkway in Concord, including two years as Vice-President of the Friends. David has taken thousands of people around the memorial educating visitors on the significance of the Kokoda Campaign.

David continued his volunteer work as a guide at the Shrine of Remembrance in Melbourne, before taking up a full-time appointment. He created and was the editor of the Shrine’s history magazine – Remembrance, and also created and ran the Friends of the Shrine program.

In 2015 he returned full-time to Kokoda Historical. He is currently the history chair and Life Member of the 39th Battalion Association and the Secretary of the Mornington RSL.
David also served for fifteen years as an infantry soldier in the Australian Army Reserve. In 2008 he deployed on peacekeeping operations in the Solomon Islands. David is well published on Australian Military history and a regular guest on many radio and television history programs including the award winning SBS series Who Do You Think You Are.
David is married with two children and resides on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria.

The venue has an extensive range of WW2 memorabilia that will be of interest.

There is plenty of parking available.
Book early, as we need to arrange appropriate catering.
