International federation of basketball team visits PNG

The team from FIBA, the international federation of basketball, were in Port Moresby recently along with representatives from Basketball Federation of Papua New Guinea.

Since last year #PNGAusPartnership supported the #Hoops4Health program in communities within the National Capital District which has seen an increase of women participation in basketball.

The Basketball Federation of Papua New Guinea was host to FIBA Chief Operations Officer Markus Studer and Fiba Oceania Executive Director David Crocker.
The delegation visited Port Moresby followed with a short visit to Kokopo, ENB, to launch the Mums A Hero program in the province.

Discussions centered around continued collaboration in sport development and sport for development and governance.

The FIBA officials also met with members of the PNG National basketball team to the Pacific Games and attended one of their training sessions before their departure.
