Paspaley Pearl Cruise to New Britain with Max Uechtritz and Ray Martin

Journalists Max Uechtritz and Ray Martin will join Pearl Expeditions for a 10-night voyage through Papua New Guinea aboard Paspaley Pearl, with bookings now open for the November voyage.

Setting sail from Madang on 18 November 2025, the circumnavigation of New Britain Island aligns with Pearl Expeditions’ mission of “exploring rarely-visited places that define small ship expedition cruising.”

“Experience not only the extraordinary diversity of PNG cultures and landscapes, but delve deeply into its rich history – ancient, colonial, wartime and modern – related by two great Australians whose backgrounds, inextricably intertwined with PNG, provide an insider’s perspective,” Pearl Expeditions Executive Chair Sarina Bratton said.

Deep insights into the destination will be provided by PNG-born news and foreign correspondent Uechtritz, who is also former President of the Papua New Guinea Association of Australia (PNGAA), alongside household name Martin. The latter’s knack for storytelling will add yet another layer to the experience, with Martin offering personal anecdotes from “encounters with global personalities and leaders, the famous and notorious, during a lifetime of globetrotting,”

The Paspaley Pearl offers boutique size and technical capability. She also has an extensive range of facilities, which provides opportunities for intimate journeys to destinations that larger ships cannot visit. This purpose-built vessel provides modern comfort for 30 guests.

With more departures in 2026, other current PNG departures are on 9 October (Hidden Secrets) and 8 November 2025 (Sepik Traditions).

According to Bratton, this journey will also help support “the important ongoing work promoting goodwill between Australia and PNG,” conducted by the PNGAA.

Please mention PNGAA when booking.
