In the interests of the health of possible attendees and the community at large, the Committee has decided to postpone PNGAA Events for the moment.
This includes the Women’s Panel Talk (Sydney) & Ship’s Inn gathering (Brisbane). It is a proactive approach to assist our communities in managing the
situation of the coronavirus and keeping as many of us well and happy.
Any payments that have been made will be refunded by Murrough, our Treasurer.
As the improvements in the heath area occur and it is appropriate to recommence our Events, I will most certainly let you all know. We will have lots to look forward to later in the year.
Do keep in contact with PNGAA on the this website, Facebook, Linked-in and Instagram. It’s always good to hear news from around the traps.
I do hope some of you are writing your memoirs? These are vital to our personal histories and the history of Australia and PNG during our individual time there.

The PNGAA is facilitating an exciting panel presentation in Sydney for those who are able to attend:
PRESENTERS will be:
A. Lynne Braico (CWA): “The Relationship between CWA & PNGAA”
Lynne will speak about how the talks given by the CWA and the book produced from contributions from Members of the PNGAA at the CWA Conference in Albury (NSW) added to the knowledge and understanding of PNG. She will also comment on the relationship developing between the PNGAA and the CWA.
B. Jan Anthony: “The Way it was in PNG”
Jan will speak on her experiences as a new bride in the early days in various places in PNG .
C. Robin (Leahy)Hodgson: “Collecting Artifacts and Trading in PNG”
Robin (Leahy) Hodgson founded the Melanesian Arts Centre in Lae, PNG in 1972 and spent the next thirty years developing it, buying locally and selling worldwide. She sold the Melanesian Arts Centre in 2002 as a going concern. Robin thoroughly enjoyed dealing with the myriad of handmade objects of the diverse cultures of PNG and her contact with the equally diverse local people. Her buying trips took her to many places but principally to the Sepik River and the Trobriand Islands, where one could never be certain what lay ahead despite the best laid plans, or what treasures would be found.
All are welcome – members, guests or anyone who is interested.
