Last Post Ceremony at AWM commemorates the NGVR and Cpl George Williams Spensley NGX490 – 1 July 2021

On 1 July 2021 the Last Post Ceremony at the Australian War Memorial, Canberra, will commemorate the New Guinea Volunteer Rifles and Corporal George William Spensley NGX490. Anyone is welcome to attend however you need to confirm by email to: admin@memorial.org.au or on the AWM website.
Entry for the Last Post ceremony will commence from 4:20 pm at the front steps of the Memorial. The ceremony will commence at 4:45 pm.
Currently the Last Post Ceremony is a ticketed event due to Covid-19.
The tickets become available approximately a month in advance.
Please advise admin@memorial.org.au if you are attending this event so that tickets can be booked as a group and you will be kept informed of any details. Please email names of all those attending, email address, home address, any mobile phone contact and if you intend laying a wreath.

The tickets do not need to be printed/presented. Those who are booked in just need to let staff know their name on arrival at the AWM. It is also a requirement in the ACT to check in using the Check in CBR app. If attendees do not have the app, AWM staff can assist at the Front Entrance to the Memorial.
George William Spensley’s name will also be projected onto the exterior of the Hall of Memory on:

George William Spensley’s name is located at panel 72 in the Commemorative Area at the Australian War Memorial (as indicated by the poppy on the plan).
