A bit discoloured but a view of Buka passage from the Bukaluma Guest House front lawn on Sohano island (1971). The Guesthouse used to be the District Commissioner's residence before Administration HQ was transferred to Kieta and later on to Arawa.
Bougainville, circa 1971. The Kieta Hotel can be seen on the righthand side of the road (middle). Other buildings comprise Steamships; BP's; Breckwolds; Radio "moth bilong San Kamap"; the Commonwealth and national Banks and Jimmy Wong's store. The road to Arawa can be seen in background.
